KPR’s Facilities Services department plays a vital role in ensuring our schools and buildings are safe, healthy and welcoming for all. One of the many responsibilities of Facilities Services staff is to ensure drinking water in all schools is tested regularly, so that it remains safe for students, staff and community members. Every tap used for drinking water in every school is tested for lead, as required by provincial legislation. Schools on wells also undergo more comprehensive water testing for a much longer list of substances.
See the letter sent to all families in November 2019 regarding water testing for lead. Further information is also available in our Questions and Answers sheet on Drinking Water at KPR Schools: Lead Testing.
In addition, the links to the right publicly report water testing results for each school across the KPR Board.
Custodial Staff provide a major role in maintaining and cleaning our schools and other Board facilities by performing inspections required by legislation, operating and monitoring building mechanical systems, and performing daily inspections to ensure buildings and grounds are safe for students and staff.
Maintenance Services provides mechanical, electrical and plumbing support at our schools and other Board facilities by performing preventive and scheduled maintenance, plumbing repairs and service, electrical lighting and distribution, mechanical heating and ventilation.
We provide carpentry support at our schools and other Board facilities performing daily building maintenance including portables, roof and window repairs, interior doors and hardware, chalk and tack boards, locksmith service and millwork.
Engineering Services provides engineering design and supervision for scheduled major maintenance projects such as roof replacements, window replacements, heating system upgrades, electrical and life safety upgrades, painting program and asphalt paving. We provide a management team that participates in the development of new schools, additions and major Renovations for the Board. We then provide contract administration for these projects.
