Building Leadership Capacity (BLC)

For individuals interested in building their personal leadership capacity. The Building Leadership Capacity program is a series of sessions designed to introduce and build skills in the foundations of leadership. School Office Administrator Program (SOAP)

The Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board, in consultation with the Secretarial Dialogue Committee and CUPE Local 5555, created the SOAP for all elementary and secondary school secretaries.  The program has been designed to support the changing demands of the role of a school secretary.  The program consists of Trillium Essentials and the BLC program.

Effective June 2012, the Certificate Programs will be included on job postings as a mandatory requirement and the training sessions must be completed in advance of application in order to be considered to have met the minimum qualifications of the job.  To receive your certificate you will need to print off all relevant certificates from PD place, and forward them all together to the Leadership & Staff Development department at the Board office.  For complete program details, click here.

Building Operator Internship Program (BOIP)

The Facilities Services Department, working with local community college partners and CUPE 5555, have developed a program that provides training in the safe, energy efficient and environmentally sound operation of our schools and buildings, along with the skills necessary to relate to staff, students and the public.  The program consists of the BLC program and the Building Operator Program (BOP). The BOP training is provided by Durham college and covers the following topics:

  • The Building Envelope as a System
  • Space Heating
  • Air Conditioning & Refrigeration
  • Air Handling Systems
  • Electrical Systems
  • Building Control Systems
  • Principles of Energy & Heat Transfer

Effective January 1, 2011 those aspiring to Head/Assistant Head Custodian positions, must have completed the BOIP. To receive your certificate you will need to print off all relevant certificates from PD place, and forward them all together to the Leadership & Staff Development department at the Board office.  For more information on this program, please speak to your Custodial Supervisor.

Advanced Leadership Program (ALP)

For individuals who aspire to a supervisory role, such as manager, vice-principal and principal. Participants in the full program are accepted through an application process. Please review the Leadership and Staff Development Calendar for more detailed information about this 2-year program.  Applications will begin to be received in March 2016 for the new 2016 - 2018 program.

Growing Leaders

Expedition Coaching Certificate Program

For all employees, this leadership program is designed to enhance the coaching , communication and change leadership skills with people at all levels. These are the skills used in everyday communications with staff, colleagues, customers, and any personal communication. Participants of EXPEDITION Coaching® will discover coaching as a powerful leadership tool – and walk away with the skills to apply the coach-approach in the workplace immediately.
