Alternative and Continuing Education
Our Alternative and Continuing Education programs provide a dynamic educational experience in a flexible environment where students and staff together pursue their quest for life-long learning in an atmosphere of cooperation, dignity and mutual respect.
Alternative and Continuing Education at KPR offers both secondary school credit courses and non-credit programs.
Secondary school credit courses are offered at two Centres for Individual Studies (CIS) campuses (Clarington and Northumberland regions), and at Peterborough Alternative and Continuing Education (PACE). These programs are available for students aged 16 and in their third year of high school or older. The majority of our students at these sites are adults. Secondary school credit courses are also offered through our correspondence programs.
Other programs offered for adults at this time include:
-
Adult Training Network: reading, writing, numeracy, digital and other essential employment skills support
-
PLAR (Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition)
-
English as a Second Language
KPR also offers an International Languages program for elementary students. These non-credit courses are offered for students in kindergarten through to Grade 8 in the three regions of our board, dependent on enrolment.
