Update for Families: May 23, 2025

Updates for Families banner

Dear KPR Families,

With the latter part of May upon us, it’s an opportune time to reflect on the growth and progress we have made so far this school year – I am incredibly proud of students for their continued motivation and dedication to learning. I know this is a busy time for all as schedules ramp up with EQAO testing, culminating assignments, field trips, award ceremonies, school events, end of year projects and so much more. During these busy times, I encourage students, staff and families to find moments of joy during the final stretch of the school year. Thank you for supporting one another and bringing positivity to our KPR community.

I want to take this opportunity to highlight that May is Speech and Hearing Month! As a school board, we celebrate the vital role of Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) and Communicative Disorders Assistants (CDAs) in helping KPR students communicate in many different ways!

Looking ahead to next week, we will be recognizing National AccessAbility Week from May 25 – May 31. This week offers an opportunity to celebrate the valuable and meaningful contributions of all persons with diverse abilities and reflect on how we can create a more inclusive society by recognizing and removing barriers to accessibility in our classrooms, schools, workplaces and communities.

As we continue with this positive momentum into June, I look forward to celebrating student milestones and accomplishments, both big and small, and joining in on all the excitement and fun times that the end of the school year brings!

Wishing everyone an enjoyable weekend.

Sincerely,

Rita Russo
Director of Education

STSCO Busing Opt-in Period for 2025-2026 School Year

Student Transportation Services of Central Ontario (STSCO), which oversees busing in Peterborough, Northumberland and Clarington, will be continuing the “opt-in” program for next school year. The opt-in program requires families to confirm their children’s intent to ride the school bus if they are eligible for transportation. Messaging about opting-in was shared directly by STSCO with all eligible families.

For more information on the opt-in process, visit the STSCO website.
