Updates for Families: March 21, 2025

Dear KPR Families,

It is so wonderful seeing students return to school this week! After a long, snowy winter, the warmer temperatures and abundant signs of spring have made for a great first week back.

Whether traveling, spending time with loved ones, or catching up on some rest, I hope it was a safe, restful and enjoyable March Break for students and families. As we enter the final stretch of the school year, KPR staff are excited for all the learning, community building opportunities and education milestones ahead and we look forward to continuing to support students in reaching their goals!  

The month of March continues to be a busy time, with many days of significance and special observances. This week, we recognized Nowruz, International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination and World Down Syndrome Day. In the days ahead, we recognize National Indigenous Languages Day, Eid-ul-Fitr, and International Transgender Day of Visibility among other days of significance on KPR’s Events Calendar.

Share Your Feedback on KPR’s Policies and Administrative Regulations: Volunteers, School Councils and Regional School Councils

The day-to-day work of our schools and the Board is governed by Board policies and corresponding administrative regulations, which are reviewed regularly to ensure they remain up-to-date, culturally relevant, and responsive. Students, staff, volunteers, families and community members are invited to share their feedback on the following three policies and associated administrative regulations by completing the online forms linked below by May 26, 2025:

KPR Eastern Region Job Fair

KPR is hosting a job fair for casual/occasional positions at our Eastern Region schools (Northumberland County & Quinte West) next Thursday, March 27 from 4:30 – 8:00 p.m. at Brighton Public School. School Mental Health Ontario (SMHO) Resources and Free Webinar Series

As part of the recently launched, By Your Side Parent Hub and toolkit, SMHO is hosting a five-part free webinar series focused on substance use, addictive behaviours and youth mental health, with sessions running throughout April and May. The series has been developed alongside parents and caregivers, to help address common questions related to substance use and addictive behaviours, with the help of experts in the field. OPSBA Awards 

Do you know an amazing trustee, teacher, education worker, school administrator, student or community member who deserves to be recognized for making a difference in their local school or community? Nominations are now open for the 2025 Ontario Public School Boards Association Awards!  

Nominations for awards are open until April 4, 2025, at 4:30 p.m., except for the Bernardine Yackman Memorial Award, which is open until June 6, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. More information is available on the OPSBA website at https://www.opsba.org/resources/awards/ and through the Online Nomination Form.
